I have decided to get my nails sorted - finally!! Can any one recommend a nail bar in Glasgow where i should go - one that you have used and would go back to. Another thing this might sound daft but is there a difference between acrylic nails and nail extensions? how much should i expect to pay? Your help would be appreciated!

Hi buttons, not sure about the glasgow thing as i am from dahn sarf, but nail extensions usually are acrylics. A false nail is glued on then acrylic put on top of the nail, buffed and filed, i have permanent french done (squoval) which is white acrylic and pink acrylic made to look like a french manicure. It costs 45 quid for a full set then you have to have infills done every two to three weeks and they cost around 20-25 squid. Make sure you use something like solar oil on them at least twice a day to stop them drying or lifting too. There is a difference between acrylic and gel nails but only about the products they use. We'll make a footballer's wife of you yet!
I am a nail tecnician if I was anywhere near Glasgow I would do them for you! I would not go for the Acrylics, go for the Gels which are far more kinder to your nails and look a lot more natural. The gel nail is the latest one to come out and will slowly become alot more popular than the acrylic and fibreglass. Unlike acrylics, a tip is put onto your nail and blended in, and the gel is out on top and you hold your hand under a UV light which sets the product. Whereas the acrlyic is a powder mix and dries instantly. But the gel bonds to your own nail whereas the acrylic doesn't
sorry, the first word of the seventh line down is supposed to say 'put'. And expect to pay between 20 and 30 and 15 to 20 for infills
There is a good place in Dumbarton Road along from the Cats Protection League charity shop just at the Partick Railway bridge...the name escapes me but it has a good reputation.
