my daughter had surgery on her arm and the surgeon did a very neat job....one of the nurses recommended to use E45 and massage the scar with it 3 times a day...this will lessen the scar and told her to avoid the sun for a couple of months...her scar is redder when it gets the sun and a bit shiny but not so noticable.
don't til it's faded completely! you shoud keep it covered while it's healing as it can stop the scar fading. i had surgery last march on my back and was told to keep aout of the sun and rub in vitamin e oil lots to make the scarring better. my scars are still noticable (what can you expect after spinal surgery!) but faded and no longer red. nice and neat though thanks to my surgeon! :)
