Has anyone experience of using WPA ,I have just retired and have aways been covered by BUPA but they want a fortune to continue coverage. Or can anyone please recommend a good firm ?

Axa or Norwich Union, there are quite a few alternatives and like all insurance you will get various quotes.
You might try a broker to seek out the best deal; possibly PMI Health Group Northwich Cheshire. (www.pmihealthgroup.co.uk.)

That's disgraceful.

Do you not have community rating on private health insurance in the UK? Here in Ireland we do, it means that everyone - regardless of age, history etc pays the same cost per plan.
