The theory is that most are right-handed, so the watch is less likley to get kncoked or scratched in day-to-day wear. Conversely, my father-in-law who is left handed, wears his watch on his right wrist.

I know the answer. I was just being mischievous.
Ha ha! That's the funniest one yet.
You're a naughty girl Willow! (I hope!!)
Question Author
andy - hope I'm naughty or hope I'm a girl?
LMAO! ;)
In the past watches needed to be winded every day. Most people are right handed so they wore the watch on their left hand to make winding easier.
A perfect illustration of what I said elsewhere on the site re the profanity filter, Willow. Had the word you intended simply been allowed to pass, nobody would have paid any attention to it. Now, every 10-year old AB user has found a new naughty word...well any of the handful of 10-year olds who didn't know it already!
I shook hands with a left-handed person about a week ago, but funnily enough I didn't notice whether he was wearing his watch on his left or right wrist. I suppose I was paying more attention to his face instead, due to the fact that he is the second most gorgeous man in the world.
I don't know why anyone would want to wear a wrist-watch on their right wrist. I am been left-handed, as are quite a few of my male rellies, and all wear it on the left wrist. The winding up theory is probably the one I'd go for.

I can't remember meeting you last week, Bernardo!
You "don't know why anyone would want to wear a wrist-watch on their right wrist"? What about right-handed sculptors and builders who use chisels who don't want to slip and hammer their time-pieces to smitherines?
Hi Willow - I hope you're naughty - I KNOW you're a girl! A xxx
Wow! I never realised that Prince William was a member of the AB community! His AB identity name is "wildwood". Presumably he doesn't remember meeting me because he met hundreds of people on the same day.
