if a patient had a chest infection would they go for surgery for hip replacement?? or would they wait till the infection had been treated? Thanks

The Op would be postponed until the infection was cleared.

This applies to all types of infection but is especially true for chest infections as these tend to restrict breathing so present difficulties for safe administration of anesthetics
