I am pregnant at the moment. I have red hair and my partner has dark hair. My partners dad has red hair as well. My parents both have brown hair. What are the chances of us having a red haired baby?

dont know yorkshirepud, but!! i can guarantee 100 %
that you will fall in love with that baby he moment you lay eyes upon him/her. xx
I think there is a higher chance of your baby having dark hair, but I'm not a 100% on that. Congratulations yorkshirepud, I too am pregnant. Myself and partner both have dark hair but my red hair runs in my mums side of the family, so who knows!
i have red hair but neither of my two children have
I think that if your partner has inherited a red hair gene there is a one in four chance of a red-headed baby for you as I believe it's a recessive gene. I'm sure a more knowledgeable person than me would be able to comment with more authority
My friends both have v.dark brown hair and baby is very red!! They don't know where it came from
I have black hair (in its natural state) and my husband has red hair; as does his mother and brother. My mother's grandfather had bright red hair and a beard like a rodedendrum bush (just for visual imagery!!) Our son has medium brown hair, which is going darker - probably to almost black when he is older ....and not a hint or glimmer of red ....not even a freckle!!
Red hair is a strange gene, as it is dominant, but only in 2nd generation. This means a child of a red haired person is unlikely to have red hair, but their child is likely to. If your child is a redhead it is most likely to be inherited from it's paternal grandparents, rather than from you.
Every sinflge red haired person I have met have never had red haired parents!

My grandfather had red hair, and none of his 6 children did. Only 2 of his grandchildren have red hair. One of my uncles married a redhead, so we thought that their child was bound to have red hair.

She is blonde.
You need two cpies of the ginger gene to have a ginger child. You with red hair have 2, if your partner has brown hair he may well have a brown and a ginger gene or he might have two brown. IF this is the case you will have a 50/50 chance of having a ginger child. Because you have two and it will be a 50 50 chance of what he lays down. If your partner hasnt inherited any ginger genes then the chance is 0.

I have a ginger son, I have black hair and the ginger gene came from my grandfather. Although my mums hair looks a little auburn I suppose.
My Mother-in-Law had red hair, none of her children have, neither of my children have. My sister-in-law has three children, one with strawberry blonde hair, one brunette and one blonde. Who knows what colour hair your child will have. Just love it!
If my mum ever saw us out with boys, she would say "if you're not careful you'll end up with ginger kids"
My son has ginger hair! Whats the problem with it? It's only a hair colour! Lots of people dye their hair red.
No-one's saying it's a problem - apart, it seems, from lankeela's mum!

Red head girls... oh, man. They are the sexiest. I have such a major thing for redheads (natural or dyed).
does it really matter what color of hair your child has?
your going to love him or her even if god forbid it turned out to be an alien. i have natural blond hair and lots of people tell me how lucky i am but i would love thick dark hair so....... we always want what we dont have. goodluck yorkshirepud on your little yorkshirepudding. xx
