Teeth whitening

Hi, I'm planning to get my teeth whitened in the next few months as am unhappy with the natural discolouration of my teeth and am planning to use a company called 'Style Smile Clinics', are they a reputable company? Also, there isn't an age limit on whitening procedures is there? I went to my dentist a few months ago to get them whitened and he refused to do it until I turn 21 although I'm 18 with my teeth in full working order! Thanks x

Your dentist was being responsible. They were taking into consideration the development of teeth and protection of enamels. Also, I'm sure they were considering your choice prudently as despite everyone becoming obsessed with yet another american concept, problems do arise...it brittles your teeth, it can affect the enamel and it can accelerate decay..
I hope you consider this before splashing out your money to companies who may be quick to take your money and not share the potential pitfalls.

1) Wait until you are 21
2) Get it done by a DENTIST (the only person other than registered dental care proffesionals legally allowed to provide diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the mouth and oro-facial region, NOT by anyone else)
3) There is always some sensitivity, this varies from person to person and is reduced whith certain techniques
4) It nearly always works to some degree if a bleaching agent is used
5) VillageVicar is wrong on a number of points, bleaching does not 'damage enamels', it does not 'brittle your teeth' and it most certainly does not 'accelerate decay'
