Sadly, GSDs are one of the breeds more prone to epilepsy than others. This may be the cause.
Question Author
I agree it could be epilepsy but the vet is telling me that it should be not showing in such a young dog and also he has come from a very well known breeder in the uk with no epilepsy in his blood lines, he is as shocked as I am this is happening thanks GypsyX
When did the fits occur in relation to vaccinations? Some pups can have a reaction to the vaccines and vets/pharmaceutical companies are reluctant to admit it.

Found this on one site:

The Possible Casuses of Seizures in Dogs
Trauma to the head can lead to seizures due to hemorrhage or swelling of the brain and surrounding tissues, often with subsequent formation of scar tissue or blood clots. It is not uncommon to see dog seizures that result from a traumatic episode that occurred years earlier.
Kidney failure and high levels of circulating uremictoxins have been known to cause seizures, although this is rare.
The most common toxic cause of seizures is probably lead poisoning.
Inflammation of the central nervous system (CNS), also called encephalitis.
High blood ammonia levels also can lead to canine seizures.
Heat stroke.
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is another common cause of seizures that affect toy breed puppies. Hypoglycemia can be brought on by giving excessive doses of insulin to diabetic dogs, or by insulin-secreting tumors of the pancreas in older dogs.
Canine distemper is one of the most common causes of seizures in puppies.

There can be many causes of fits in puppies - it does not automatically mean epilepsy. Have any other puppies in the litter had any problems? Was there any trauma/anything unusual at the birth? Could he have been exposed to any lead (paint on toys/buildings, lead pipes etc)?
Question Author
Thanks lankeela I really do aprieacte your help ,his glucose was 6.5 the vet was pleased with that ,he has not been exposed to lead another queston the vet asked and the breeder has contacted owners of the rest of the litter and says all is fine with them.

I am still waiting for blood test results I had them sent of by courier because of the postal strike , and the vet has marked them urgent as soon as they come back I will let you no what they say the waiting is awful as one minute hes playing the next hes fitting which leaves him worn out GypsyX
oh dear, I do feel for you, you must be out of your mind with worry. As Kita says, it can be any number of things and I dont think anyone on here is best suited to diagnose, or even suggest what it may be.

I hope the vet has given you something to help in the interim for when he has these fits or at least told you what to do, I think the only thing is to comfort him, but you need to know what to look for as it may be that you would have to call the vet in an emergency.

You say he hasnt eaten anything, but is there a chance he has picked anything up, or eaten a poisonous plant? I am wondering whether blood tests may not show anything up and he may need a scan to determine anything untoward with his brain - but I hope you find out soon, and he is ok.
Hi Gypsy, Is this Nico who is poorly? you must be frantic with worry.I'm sure we've all got our fingers crossed hoping that what ever it is is minor and he soon gets back to his normal puppyhood
