Is it possible to gauge ones state of health by inspecting your tongue or is it mumbo jumbo?

Possibly, but I believe there are better tried and tested methods which are reliable, examples of which are BP checks, urinalysis and blood tests.

to a certain degree yes you can.
you can definately tell through a tongue if your eating healthily or not, and if you have certain medical problems.
The chinese used this method many centuries ago....
have you been inspecting your tongue recently??? lol
