emergency, any advice appreciated before sunday!

I am decorating my son's room as a birthday surprise(for Sunday).I bought a wallposter that comes in 8 parts and covers a full wall.Its been a nightmare as my friend attempted to do it.The bottom 4 panels were fine but the top ones dont line up etc, and the paste dries so quickly its hard not to get creases in them.right now i have some creases, not air bubbles, but theres nothing I can do about them now.I just want to know if its ok to sand them down and colour in the rest with felt tips pens(the poster is mainly green?
