A recent article has suggested that it is not looks that woo a woman but instead good manners. Tips for men on how to make a good impression include be early for dates and never use cheesy chat-up lines. In the poll women put manners above looks and intelligence. What do you think? Are good manners an absolute must in a partner? Or are they more of a bonus?

My ex used to do it all the time and I was always tempted to really shock him and just let one rip, I finally plucked up the courage and was so ashamed of the dead rat smell in the air after, never ever again.
Rev, I do the ticking love ;0P
i couldnt bring my self to let off in front of my bf, he does it all the time tho. i might be laying on his lap and then he starts shaking, trying to hold in his laugh then i says "ive just farted, can you smell it" ive never seen myself move so fast
nasty man.
Mr P didn't know I farted..he thought I was an enigma.

After about 2 years of complaining of creaky doors and the radiators needing to be bled I finally did it in front of him.

It was relief for us both.

we had a disagreement when I first joined AB all those years ago (2) about why I think it's unacceptable to break wind in front of your partner and we still flirt.....

I don't like trumping in front of people.

It's horrid.

It happens sometimes but it's rare.

My mum and her hubby on the other hand find it hillarious.

I'm sure I'm adopted.
i think manners is please and thank you, politness......burping and farting inst bad manners.....

And I've already told you I'll pass Rev ;0P

Besides, you just got marked down for being pretty... I prefer rugged.
Oh yeah..I have never let rip in front of the vicar.
i did say pretty/handsome

Why do most of us find the passing of wind amusing to talk about ......I am in a fit of giggles reading this thread and yet I find it one of the most bad mannered things to do in public . However , I do understand that it can't always be helped. :-)
My family is pretty big on manners in general, except my 14 year old brother who loves to hold me down when he blows off and says, "Ooh, vintage!" Apparently, it never gets old...

Got to say, though, I'm very impressed if a bloke has good manners, unlike mine who drives me insane with his knife and fork after he's finished dinner! :o)
I think 'farting in front of your partner' deserves it's own thread.
Altohough im now attached

in my wild internet dating days lol whenever i met a bird i mean woman I would have a bunch of tesco flowers in the boot and if all went well she would get them and it worked everytime lol
Manners are just a matter of being considerate to other people. Someone without good manners is just showing you that they're selfish and rarely think of others.

They're generally best avoided in relationships.

It's also not the same as customs like saying "please" and "thank you" but holding doors for other people not just their dates and being on time .

There's also a difference between someone who is clearly naturally well mannered and someone who rather affects them.

If someone is charming to you but bullies the waiter - drop them like a hot potato - they're just making an effort to be nice to you - as sure as day it'll wear off and you'll start getting the same treatment.
is licking the plate clean bad manners....

i would have thought it was good manners if you woman has cooked?
Ah, it's table manners that are my bugbear.
Cheesewhiz.........whats wrong with a fart here and there. We all do it, even the Queen does it. There's a way of doing it of course but no way can you hide it from your partner.

I suppose peeing in the shower is taboo as well?
