i know what you get tattooed on yourself is completely up to you.. but i think this is a rather disturbing tattoo to get on yourself, and also makes me wonder about the person who had it tattooed on themselves.
What are your views on this subject? and the comments underneath the picture?

Whoever tattooed that has talent.
Im not sure really, its a cool tatt, if it had been Jeffrey Dahmer then I would be worried. I think Jack the Ripper happened so long ago, hes kind of like the Bogeyman. Not disimilar to having a vampire on your arm, the idea of drinking someones blood til they die is surely not ok but it would make a cool tattoo still.

the tattoo artist definately has talent though i have seen better on this website.. and i do know what you're saying Goodsoulette</b but to me to kind of glorify a man who brutally cut up and murdered women no matter how long ago seems like a really strange choice of tattoo..
I also think its strange that on one of the comments a girl mentions that she is getting her arm covered in portraits of serial killers - which is also very disturbing in my opinion.

Recognition is the key, we know what a lot of serial killers look like but no idea about Jack the ripper. There are many Ripper enthusiasts, not that they loved what he did but the mystery surrounding it. Maybe this guy was one of these.
I frequent many a tattoo parlour and I see many of the images are creepy, violent or spooky. I really don't see this as any different.

yeah you do have a good point. i just think there must be something a little wrong with you if you want to have the image of a man who butchered woman tattooed on your body. i know if i met someone who had this image on them i would be very wary of them and probably wouldnt want anything to do with them.

Well Morrissey wrote "Jack the Ripper" and "Suffer Little Children" (about Myra Hindley) and I am sure he doesn't care.
And David Bowie wrote "Please Mr Gravedigger" and Little Bombadier" about the amusing side of child sexual sexual abuse. In fact he wrote "1 Outside" which is an entire concept album about the killing and ritual torture of a 14 year old girl and how this is seen as art. Does it matter??
Both Morrissey and Bowie have certain weirdo aspects but both are just conveying wrongful aspects of society in to post-modern music.
I actually agree with Goody. It is a work of art. Although tattoos are on the whole for poor people and builders the artist certainly does have talent.
And considerring Jack the Ripper is enshrouded more in myth than historical fact, I couldn't give a monkey's knacker. However, if somebody had a tattoo of, say, Ian Huntley, I imagine I would give him or her a firm kick to the genitals.

As has been said it is fantastic artwork ~ I would be a bit concerned about the size of the tattoo, but hey..whatever floats your boat!

maybe its just me but having a song about those things is a lot different to actually wanting their image on you forever permenantly.
i understand that Jack the ripper is a very mysterious case but at the end of the day he was a brutal murderer whoever he was, i just dont think it's right to have that persons image glorified on yourself, just like i think it's also wrong for people to have swastika's tattooed because of the evil connotations that springs to mind when you see one.

i always think to myself when i see some of the tattoo's on this website how on earth will they get someone to stay with them after they've seen their tattoo. i mean the amount of disgusting rude tattoo's that people get done is just unbelievable, mind i suppose they are the ones that will have to live with them when they are old and wrinkly and getting lots of funny looks!

Missjef, do you really think an imagined up image is worse than a bloke sitting down and creating the killing and torture of a teenage girl through the medium of music. A whole album worth of it.
People still use the swastika as a symbol of evil. There are still holocaust survivors alive. Also the symbol is a sign of hatred, it was and is part of a hate creating machine. The image of a man, who could be anyone, that is unrecognisable just wouldn't worry me. A swastika would though.
