My kids both had henna tattoos on holiday two weeks ago. Hers faded away within a week, his almost faded then suddenly on sunday it blistered. Put savlon on it but has got worse so I am taking him to the doctor later today. I thought it was okay once it faded but now I'm scared he is scarred for life. M

Was the Henna a natural henna tattoo, if it was then thats really rare to be allergic to that. If it was black or very dark then it wasnt natural I'm afraid.Did they have different colours, that might explain a bit.

If it was black henna you need to tell the doctor that. Theres a chemical in it that lots of people have a reaction to.

It was the black henna - just got back from doctor - she gave me Fucibet cream.
Even when they asked I said no because I had read about the reactions that can occur, but they kept asking and I gave in. we saw loads of kids having them. As I said it took 13 days before he reacted to it. Never again

The funny thing anout PPD is he may have come into contact with it again, say someones died hair and this then triggered off the reaction. He should never die his hair with PPD in future. That is the chemical that would have been added and the reaction to it is deadly in some cases.
Some of these tattoo places use hair dye and not pure henna. It can cause a severe allergic reaction/ I know this because I am allergic to hair dye and had a very serious reaction, my head became one big blister and the chemicals went right through my body making me look like a bloated monster. My doctor said that this reaction can happen quite suddenly and he was always treating tattoos that have been done be unprofessional tattoo artist. Take your kids to the doctor right away as any delay can result in scaring.
