Just recently Ive had about three instances when my hands have started shaking uncontrollaby, this has lasted at its worst for up to about an hour.I am 43yrs old. Ive no other symptoms but my friends at work think I should at least see our practice nurse but I feel silly and that I would be wasting her time. Anyone else experienced this please?

Assuming you do not have the DTs from too much alcohol, or the shakes from too much caffeine or other stimulant it is essential that you see your GP.

This can be a symptom of very minor ailments but can also be an indication of low blood sugar suggesting diabetes, or Parkinsons.

It could also be a sign of stress, tiredness or a reaction to prescribed drugs.

Don't worry about it, but make of note of when it happens, and how long it lasts. The GP will ths information useful.

Aww thanks Ethel, no its definitely not the DTs, don't drink very often and I don't think Ive had excessive caffeine.
It might be at high levels of stress but would have to note this like you suggest as Ive never known it to happen before.
I will make an appt, thanks again for a great response.
Your doctor will need to know if the shaking happens when you hold your hands out in a fixed position, or when you are trying to do something fiddly such as thread a needle, or constant wherever your hands are and whatever you are doing at the time.

So another thing to think about before your appointment.

You're a star Ethel thank you so much, I will keep an eye on when it happens next before I go.
