A spoonfull of sugar makes the medicine go down

Ok so I'm beginning to not really get the point of cough medicine now. This says its will sooth my throat and clear any mucus from my chest. Well when I last had a biology lesson I found out whatever I drank or ate went to my belly. I have a chesty cough so how the hell is this medicine getting to my chest and soothing my throat?

try pernod and black, tastes just like cough medicine and you feel a lot better a lot quicker lol

Might be expensive and should not be taken if driving or operating machinery :)

Morning 4get , well I guess it could have come with instructions to rub liberaly over throat and chest area , but that would mean we would have to crush panadol, for a headache , into our scalp ! :-) xx

The same way as when you take a tablet for a toe infection it manages to get to your toe!!

cough medicine just deadens the cough reflex, so you are not coughing so much and making yourself feel worse.

expectorant opens up the airwaves and helps you cough it up.

it does not clear mucus or kill infection

any drink will soothe your throat the same way

it is better not to use it at all, as getting the mucus out of your lungs is the goal and anything that stops this is not a good idea

your body wants to expel the mucus, hence the coughing.
