our daughter is almost 19. for the past 18 months she has been fainting for no apparent reason. Dr has had her referred to a cardio clinic and a neurologist. neurologist says all is well and the cardio says that her blood pressure drops suddenly causing her to faint then goes back to normal. i am very worried as last week she got up with a strange feeling in her right hand, unable to pick anything up properly, later that morning she fainted and her hand came ok within half an hour. i dont even let her cross the road without using a greenman incase she faints while crossing while going to work. has anyone ever experienced this or have any advice. we have the Dr again this afternoon. thank you.

when i was the same age as your daughter i went through a stage of fainting. it started when i was about 17 and went through till was 19. i would faint for no apparant reason. it was a bit weird for me and it upset my family particullaly my dad who got really worried especially when i fainted in front of him, i think they thought there was something majorly wrong with me. so i got hauled off to the doctors who did blood tests and all sorts, they could find absolutely nothing wrong with me.
i wasnt so worried because i didnt feel like there was anything wrong with me, and after i came round after fainting i felt fine. i started to get a bit paranoid because everyone around me was making a big deal about it and that kind of made me feel like this was something worse than it was.
after about two years the fainting gradually phased out and i havnt fainted in ages now.
if the tests have all come back clear then i really wouldnt worry, it was a weird stage in my life but im fine now. if your daughter is not overly worried then i dont think you should be either.
hope things went ok with the doctor.

loulou06, thank you so much for your reply. i am glad to know that she is not the only one going through this and that you grew out of it. the Dr this afternoon managed to get her next cardio appoint moved forward by 4 weeks as she is fainting more regulary. she has fainted 3 times in 2weeks as before it was once every couple of months. after reading your reply, i feel abit better about it. thank you so much once again.
Both my youngest son and daughter went through a phase like this mavis. My daughter now age 24 began to faint from 14 years of age but it wore off by the time she was about 18. My son 22 still faints if he gets anxious as his BP drops. Seems to be many young ones with this complaint.
