Ive become very involved in planting flowers and things recently.

With all the news going mad about CO2 emissions being too high I thought what the heck and decided that if eveyone grows at least one plant maybe that would make a difference.....now I have strawberries, chillies, tomatoes and dianthus growing in my garden.

Anyone else out there thought about doing their bit to reduce CO2 emissions?

I am definitely going to eat less beans and sprouts.
Good!
I now walk everywhere - down to school and back twice a day, and often to Sainsbury's and back which is a mile and a half or so. I just can't do much shopping when I'm there. That's the only flaw in my plan so far! Everywhere is up or down hill here too, so it keeps me fit too.

The best bit though, is that my children are growing up accepting that I don't drive them anywhere, which can only be a good thing for them AND the ozone layer!!
Coronation Street summed up my view on global warming last week - Hotter summers and living closer to the sea....
I cycle to work and home every day. Nearly got killed by a bus this morning though and then almost got in a fight with the driver. He came out of nowhere driving far too fast and tried to steal my lane. Some idiots on the road need to learn that they're vehicles are not made out of cotton wool and will actually kill cyclists if they drive into them. The guy had the audacity to then drive along side me mouthing abuse, all because I had right of way and he was driving too fast, the numpty was a professional driver ffs and there's absolutely no way he could say he was concentrating on the road when he was doing that. I gave him the internationally accepted sign language for 'moan then you idiot' and he realised he'd get battered in a square go and sped off leaving me effing and blinding along the final stretch into my work.
I don't use my car quite as often as I used to.

I'm fortunate enough to live close to town, so walk to the shops, hairdressers, doc's & dentist (mind you, the latter's only twice a year)!

Although I have to confess to still using the tumble drier - the rain has been relentless in these parts over the last few weeks!

Oh, the sun's popped out, so I'm off into the garden to check the tomatoes!
Thing is it's all very well and commendable us doing our bit, but as a whole aren't the USA now pumping out more emissions than ever before?

And all this about aircraft being bad - has it taken us until now to notice ? I remember 30 years ago looking at the fumes in the sky and thinking surely that must be a pollutant.

Just off for a lie down lol
I've only been on 4 planes and never travelled further than Greece. I have also planted over 70 trees this year and probably about the same in the past 3 years actually it's probably more than that with all the willow we coppiced too however the climatic conditions where they were planted aren't the best and they've not all taken but at least I'm trying.
You have chillies growing in the garden ? - bring them in, they thrive on indoor heat. I grow mine in a conservatory which regularly reaches 35C+ on a hot day.

I recycle everything possible, so much that I never put out a black bag for the landfill.

My principal, super-principal mode of transport is the bike, which is stress-free, no traffic jams, and gives you a bit of exercise.

As to reducing CO2 emissions, it's a waste of time however. China alone is building 2 new coal-burning power stations per WEEK. The planet is doomed, but we can hardly criticise them, we started it, besides, everybody wants cheap goods.

Next time you go shopping, look at where things have been manufactured - you will be staggered to see how very much of what we buy (non-food) is Made in China. Next time you see something Made in England, post it on here. Taylor's of Sheffield knives, er, a bit hard put for any more.
