Arteries carry blood away from the heart and veins carry it back to the heart

we were told to remember it by - veINs carry blood IN, and arteries are the opposite.

arteries have the oxygen in them to give to all the organs and body parts, veins take the blood back to the lungs to get rid of the carbon dioxide.
