i've been on the pill since last october and have always taken it every day, but haven't had my 7 day break for the last 5/6 months, is this bad for me? and when i go back for my 6 monthly check-up, should i tell my doctor i haven't been taking breaks?

and another question, with my last bf we always used condoms, even though i was on the pill, but with my new guy, we mostly use them but not always. i've tried to find out the likelihood of me getting pregnant but no luck. surely if i take it daily at 7am, like i do now, then there's a really small chance of it happening? it's just for peace of mind really.

thing is neither of us had done it without a condom, and we did, and it was so much better, i just want to know that i'm safe.

sorry if this sounds like rambling, i'm just normally a really responsible person, and don't want any "accidents" to happen.

any help would much appreciated, just to put my mind at rest, thanks

Hi, when I was on the pill I very rarely took breaks. My Doctor reccommended to do this to ease cramps, which it did. As far as she said, there is no harm at all in doing this. Just try to give your body a break now and then.
As for not using condoms, have you thought about std/sti's? Of course they will lesson your chance of getting pregnant but also protect against diseases.
If you're stil concerned, call in at the family planning clinic. They will be happy to advise you.

thanks tiggertan, yeah had thought bout sti/stds bout we've both been checked out and we're clear. we're going to carry on using them, but if sometimes we don't then we aren't going to worry about it.

will go on a break at some point, but not next time bcos we're going away and i'd rather not.

thanks for your help, appreciate it,
xxx
some drs get a bit funny about you not having a break, my friend did the same as you and got told off for it! by the way, your dr will be able to tell because you'll be early for getting another prescription! i thik its divided on whether its bad for you or not so youll just have to see what your dr says! the pill when taken correctly is (i think) 98-99% effective so pretty effective!
