I went outside this evening to get my son in for a bath( he was outside playing with a small group of boys that he met last night). As I went up to them and called his name I heard one of them ask my son who I was. When he told them I was his mum one boy said at the top of his voice " God,isn't your mum fat." and then all the others started laughing and looked at me. I stood there completely stunned that:

A. He even thought that

B. A child could be so blatantly rude to an adult

And to make me feel even worse, I have been on a diet and intense exercise regime for a month, have lost 10lb and was feeling a bit more confident about myself but now I feel blooming awful.

Anybody else ever been gob-smacked by a comment??

Noooooooooooooooooo, I'm no longer on top. Damm you and your pesky question!!
I once got told by a "friend" that i used to be attractive but then i got fat and now im not! charming eh? i wouldnt mind but he isnt exactly slim himself. I let it really hurt me when it should have. he was just another ******** who spoke without thinking.

Pink, i cannot understand this kid saying that to be honest cause you're not. Kids eh? little gits!
i meant to say when it shouldnt have!
My manager of a few years back was slating one of my staff & called her fat . So i told her. Not bothered that he was not HP with me ...He shouldnt have said it. She went mental. He was such a waner....And ahhhhhhh not so nice things have happened to him recently. Not that I condone anyone should be happy at others misfortunes. !!! only in special cases.;)
I went to visit my nanna with my mum a month or so back and when we sat my nanna turned to my mum and said "hasn't she put a lot of weight on!" as though I wasn't there.

I felt very hurt as you suffered for many years with bulimia, managed to put weight back on and now consider myself heavy again.

People say things with absolutely no consideration for anyones feelings. Children on the other hand have no idea about what they're saying and if you look at what they are comparing us to when they look at the TV then we don't stand a chance.

Don't let it get you down, you have lost 10lb on your diet so far, that's amazing! keep up the hard work and just get your catapult out next time he passes by your house (accidents happen!).
oops *I suffered*
Years ago I got a green all in one jumpsuit out of a catalogue. My young daughter watched me put it on and said "You look like the credin hulk" (the incredible hulk).
I sent it straight back........
PinkF, why are you so insecure because of your blubber? You are not the only fat person in the world. Think positive, fat is a layer of protection from the cold. It is also needed for the absorption of some nutrients. Stop whining and don't let the kids truthfulness upset you.
Hi Pinky,
Just sending you a joke I received recently:

HOW MEN THINK!

I got a phone call from a gorgeous ex-girlfriend the other day. We lost track of time, chatting about the wild, romantic nights we used to enjoy together. I couldn't believe it when she asked if I'd be interested in meeting up and rekindling a little of that "magic."
Wow!" I said. "I don't know if I could keep pace with you now. I'm a bit older and a bit balder than when you last saw me!"
She just giggled and said she was sure I'd "rise" to the challenge.
"Yeah" I said, "just so long as you don't mind a man with a waist line that's a few inches wider these days!"
She laughed and told me to stop being so silly. She teased me, saying that tubby bald men were cute, and she was sure I would still be a great lover.
"Anyway," she giggled, "I've put on a few pounds myself!"
So I told her to flick off.
Not long ago a "friend" was telling me about another friend I had not seen for a while "Oh you will be pleased, so and so is fat like you now!", I was gobbed smacked. She often comes out with these great conversation killers! Luckily myself and the other friend have chuckled about it, we are both perfectly normal size 10s (ok maybe 12s!!)
I also went to a footbal match to watch my son play this afternoon and his pals asked who I was, He said "Oh god thats my mum, she is soooooooooooo embarrasing", I was mortified as I like to consider myself quite a cool mum! Thats just kids for you...EVIL!

Well done for your diet and exercise regime, I am useless at both!
Hi Bacardi,
Your friend sounds a bit like one of mine.....
Size '0' .................. in the tact department!

She, at the time was desperately single and told a happily married friend of mine (who's husband is not a mega high earner) who has two fantastic kids and a very contented life......
'Aw I'd hate to end up like you! I wanna marry a rich man!'
You should have commented about his looks and laughed. Believe me, your comment would be round his school in no time and probably last for years.

Something like "Well I can change the way I look but you are ugly for life". Anyway, don't worry about it....people who make comments like that are insecure in themselves no matter how young they are.
I walked past a group of lads (aged about 14-16) once and they were quick to point out that i was a ginger! Feeling quite irrate at the comment, i turned round to say something back, but then one of the older ones said, "Cor, you're quite fit for a ginger actually"!
I didn't know whether to feel offended or quietly chuffed!

My mother-in-law washed some of my clothes one weekend when i was staying with my wife at her house, she walked into the living room holding a pair of pants and said are these yours, i said yes why? she said you must have a big bulge as she felt the front of the pants, my wife and i nearly died of embarassment.

society - I think you are trying to be funny, hence the stars. 'Think' and 'trying' being the key words ; )
The woman in the pet shop told me I looked fit to pop the other week..and asked how long I had to go.

My youngest is 6. I am not pregnant, nor am I dieting. Maybe I should be ;o)
