Well, it would depend on how big the desert island was, how many people were on it, what resources were available on the island, and what survival skills the people could muster.
I think It's not so much intellegence that would get you by, but plain common sense. Of cource a little help from Ray Mears wouldn't go amiss.
What have you got against musos then eh? I think we (and the artists) would do quite well compared most other groups as creativity would be an essential quality if the island is lacking in resources. Plus we would have the best campfires by a mile...so there, nah nah nah nah nah naaahhh!
People who were practical, creative, inventive, easy-going with the rest of the survivors, lighthearted, and used to persevering to achieve what they are after would probably survive longest. I'll let you decide who falls into that catagory............
all very naive. the people who would survive would tend to be the ones who formed the most violent and largest gang of bullies. The admirable crichton is a myth. whoever nabs the coconut palm and kills anyone approaching it will survive. and his freinds.
why do you mention maths teacher and musicians i with people who earn massive salaries? these are amongst the lowest paid professionals? (I know pop stars are highly paid, but i would strongly dispute the title musician for most of them as this means you can actually play an instrument/compose/sing)
