Continuing on from my question further down, i was just wondering how much exercise is too much? I got a cross trainer 3 weeks ago and have been using it for 15 mins in the morning and 15 mins in the evening, doing 5k each time. Is this too much? I really enjoy it and look forward to going on it and don't feel like i am doing too much but the comments worried me a bit. I thought 30 minutes exercise a day was meant to be good for you? I am not overweight - my BMI is in the healthy range, I just do it to keep fit. Can anyone advise me please? Thanks in advance.

I do 30 mins on a rower every morning (sometimes skip it at weekends when Im feeling lazy!) but I did build up to this gradually. I would say if you are feeling good and having no adverse effects then keep at it.
Overtraining is an individual thing however the symptoms are universal such inability to sleep and a general apathy. If you stick with the same time and intensity of training your body will get used to it and your level of fitness won't change. I've trained hard for 5 hrs a day (rehab) and didn't manage to overtrain.
