okay, so I get this pain every now and again, and it's always between the shoulder and the neck, in exactly the same place, and it feels like someone's given me a harsh electric shock, where I end up shouting out loud OUCH and grab my shoulder thinking someone's messing me about, and then I get funny looks from everybody... does anybody have any idea what this could be?? Thanks Lou x

I've been getting this today! if I turn my neck sometimes it does it. I think it might just be a trapped nerve

it's horrible though!! and it always seems to get worse, and whenever I try to talk to someone about it, they think im going mad because they've never had it or heard of it before!!
I think you must have a trapped nerve, Try go see someone that specialises in massaging to sort it out. Mine doesnt do it that often, only when Ive slept funny.
I used to get that in my wrist, I strained it from having too heavy a wheelie case for my job. I saw a physio and apparently it was all a knock on effect from my bad posture.
I get that in my neck as weel. Sometimes I think someone has hit me in the neck with something. It really makes me jump and shout out as well. Think it must be trapped nerve..

hey there
I am in nursing and the answers you got are probably right on. Sounds like when you move the nerve is being pinched. Why? it is possible that the muscles in that area or very tight, a massage may help. One by a professional. See if that helps then you will know. If not the other thing you should do is get an x-ray to see if there is over bone growth in the area that causes the bones in the area to pinch the nerve. Often though it is realted to muscles.
