The wildlife special Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin was shooting when he was killed in September is to air in the new year.

The Discovery Channel and Animal Planet TV networks will simultaneously air 'The Steve Irwin Tribute,' as well as his last TV project 'Ocean's Deadliest' in America on 21 January.

In 'Ocean's Deadliest,' Irwin is joined by oceanographer and adventurer Philippe Cousteau (grandson of the famous oceanographer Jacques Cousteau) as they explore the waters between Australia's Gold Coast and the Great Barrier Reef.

Cousteau, who was aboard Croc One with Irwin during the expedition when he was struck and killed by a stingray, narrates the 90-minute documentary.

'The Steve Irwin Tribute' is an intimate look at the life of the Crocodile Hunter as a father, friend, icon and conservationist through the eyes of those who knew him best.

His widow, Terri, along with family and friends will share personal stories about Irwin.

If his family want that then let them, anyone that doesnt like it doesnt have to watch it.
Sounds cool enough to me. He never really appealed to me as a naturalist, but I gather he was a nice bloke and well thought of, and it was a tragedy what happened to him, so if it does his family some good, both cathartically and financially then all the best to them.
There`s also a tribute programme being shown on ITV 1, I believe it`s on New Years Day.
Anything that helps his family is good. Although some may not have liked his style, he was an intriguing character and according to other animal conservationists did a lot of good work. I grew up watching Jaques Custeau and his son working with Irwin tells me that he was respected by the best in his field. So yes, I will watch the tribute.
hope you are well mnko, know someone who has just been to australia and they could not believe how devestated people were re his death, im sorry to say i did not really like his programmes on t v , i would have no wish to view his demise .
I think it's great. Steve got people interested in wildlife, maybe in a way that nobody else has done..my kids loved Croc Files and I enjoyed watching it with them too.

As 4getmenot says, as long as his family are involved and give it their blessing it shouldn't matter to anyone else.
mnko, We used to love watching Steve, his programmes were great. Remember the one where he had his head on a log and that huge female tarantula crawled over his face? Is this tribute the same one that was shown a few week's ago? daisy.
