Of these 3 morning groans, which would raise the most eyebrows ?

1) I drunk 6 pints of Stella last night.

2) I had a bottle and a half of red wine last night.

3) I got through over a half a bottle of Scotch last night.

At alcohol levels of 5%, 15%, 40% respectively, I think these are roughly equivalent ? (and 15% is a powerful red wine if you can find any)

Would we not think that 1) is just a bit of a lad, but that 3) has a serious problem ?

Depends if you're going down the stereotyping route Whiffster, personally I'd think that you'd be in for a stonking hangover either way.

Any how, it entirely depends on the circumstances, a once off? a regular occurence? larging it to show how much you can drink?

Stereotypically the scotch I think would raise the eyebrows however.
as a non drinker im not biased on this so..... yep I think you are right whiffey.
Probably the scotch.

It's an interesting comparison though.

1) I'd thing a guy out with the lads.

2) I'd think was quite a lot but better on a big night out than sat at home unless having a do or something there.

3) I'd tend to see as solitary depressive drinking I suppose.

Id be more worried about the circumstance they were drunk in rather than what was drunk

ie.Half a bottle of scotch down the pub with mates or one and a half bottles of wine drunk at home alone.
I agree with Jenna, if you'd had a night out and consumed that much wouldn't think much of it but would be inclined to think the person had a drink problem if alone, but if it was a one off alone wouldn't really be a problem it's if its a regular thing.

I wouldn't think any of them had a serious problem unless they were doing it for breakfast.

A bottle and half of wine wouldn't get me drunk!
I don't think i'd be able to drink any of them without horrible consequences, think i'd have been ill before i got anywhere near that far.

I know people who could drink that easily though.

I went on a dinner date with a guy and he got through 6 pints throughout our date, was not impressed and needless to say didn't see him again.
Pers'nally speaking, if you did any of these at home on your own it would raise both my eyebrows.

In general terms though, the scotch.
Is six pints a lot?
Typical evening for me then!

Not really - I was joking!!

Seriously, yes it would depend on the curcumstances.6 pints down the pub is fine, half a bottle of red wine, indoors out out is fine I think, half a bottle of scotch - well, drank home alone is a bit much - over a social eve with friends would be ok.

In all cases, unless it was a habit or they were under 18, or drove or operated machinary or took any other substances, they were just silly. However, if they paid Sainsbury's prices they were certifiable.
wouldnt bat an eye lid to any of those amounts neither sounds like alcohol abuse ! just sound like a top night though if you consumed all of them ???? lol

If you did that once a year I wouln't think it was a problem (Unless you puked on my floor that is!)

I gave up drinking over 5 years ago, not so much of the amount I was drinking which I guess about 75% of your list there) but the fact that I suddenly realised I couldn't remember a day in the last 3 years without booze.

I finally realised that I'd done my bit and that it was time to hand the torch to a younger generation!

- what happened to option 2?

It's just me that gets absolutely hammered on two white wines then?!

Oh.
