If someone made you a mix tape of special songs would you be pleased or think it was really lame? And if you were making a mix tape for that special someone what song would you absolutely have to include?

not lame at all.

And if it for someone special, then if you know her favourite bands etc, they go on obviously. And some people have "a song" that means something to them...All are good choices.
Teenage Kicks. No matter who it was for, whatever context it was for. Whether it's for a wedding, funeral, birthday or valentines, evryone could do with a high decibel blast of the Undertones.

Deffinately not lame as long as it's songs they/you actually like. I would have to put the Who - Behind Blue Eyes
Somebody did it for me about 4 years ago - and I thought it was so thoughtful.
I am allways compiling CDs for people, on all the ones I dp for me I have, Without you (nielson) Tell me it's not true (barbara Dixon) Those were the days of our lives (Queen)
in my life (Beatles)

Cheers wardy, looks good, happy driving, the smell of leather in a classy car, heaven.
Nothing lame about it at all, in fact one of te best pressies you could give someone, because it's tailored to them and you've gone to the trouble of doing it yourself. For me the songs would have to be
"Wires" by Athlete, love that song,
Hallelujah, Leonard Cohen and
The Scientist, Coldplay
although agree with Absolute Beginners and Behind Blue Eyes too, but the Linkin Park version is better imho.

Some great song choices and I'm glad you wouldn't think it's lame, I would love it if someone made one for me. Thanks for all the answers so far x
nox i love leonard cohen, not enough people discovered him in the 60 and 70s
so so thoughtful, not at all lame. if it's for a special person (bf/gf/wife/husband/partner) u'd have to include jose gonzalez - heartbeats (the one off the advert with all the bouncy balls on) thats going to be my first wedding dace song (if i ever get married!!!) x
It can be a lovely idea although a guy I didn't fancy in the slightest once slipped a really mushy tape into my bag once to try and tell me how he felt about me which was a bit cringemaking!

Songs....hmmm, Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley, Colourblind by the Counting Crows, love Wires like Nox, Evanescence's My Immortal, Stereophonics Maybe Tomorrow, Eva Cassidy's Somewhere over the Rainbow, Guns N Roses - Don't Cry and Embrace's Gravity.

Destiny's Child - Emotions, Alicia Keyes - Fallin.

If it was a fun tape, gotta be Spandau Ballet's Gold..LOVE that song!
