after my pregnancy, I am unable to get rid of the excess baby fat in my stomach ...is there a way of doing this...a type of exercise perhaps...other than pushups?

The simplest exercise is, while you're doing your pelvic floor exercises (you are doing your pelvic floor exercises, aren't you???), try to pull your belly button back towards your spine. You may feel as if it's not going anywhere, but if you do this many times a day, if will make a difference over time. You can also try the 'pelvic tilt': lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Tighten the muscles in your stomach and gently roll your hips back so that all of your back is touching the floor. Then relax. For more ideas, look for an exercise book aimed at women who have just given birth, or ask your health visitor for advice. (If you have had a caesarean, don't attempt anything but pelvic floor exercises for six weeks.)
