How do people cope with rowdy kids in their street ? We recently started suffering from ball games and stone throwing from under 18 year olds in our street. We did call the police and they came after 45 mins and only warned them. One of the kids, a young girl, actually lives a few doors away from us and is always a nuisance. Thing is, we know that she cannot be charged as she is under age plus the fact that she is the ring leader. She very cleverly encourages other girls to cause the damage, such as throwing the ball in others garden and stoning. Then when the damage is done, she the roing leader, backs off. Does anyone else suffer or have suffered ? what the ideal way to resolve all this ?

could you all get together and have a word with the parents?
if they are damaging your house, then maybe invest in a cctv camera to go outside your house so you can give the tape to the police, thought whether they will do anything is another story..
my Mums just got a camera outside due to rowdy kids and trouble in the street at night seems to be working so far but we'll see how long that last's.... it will probably get robbed soon! I can't believe its girls!..... it used to be the boys when i was younger... what is the world coming to x

Contact your local parish council/town council and see if they have any youth workers. We have 2 here and they know who all the kids are and work with them, their parents police etc. it really makes a difference (not where I live but locally) and it's reduced anti social behaviour by more than half.
See if your local Police Community Support Officer can come round for a chat.
I have the same probelme but quite a bit differnat , next door to me is a granny with 7 ...yes 7 grankids under 8,,,that are outdoor playing and screaming very loudly from 9 am each day ...granny daycare shes called .

I don't know whether you live in owned property, or council/housing association property. If it is the latter, talk to your landlord as in certain cases, the authorities can threaten to evict the tenants if they continually cause problems. In either case, I would urge you and your neighbours to keep on the backs of the police in this matter. Keep a log of the dates, times and individuals involved and present it to the police. Ask them to talk to the parents of the children concerned and ask for steps to be put in motion for Anti Social Behaviour orders to be issued. Several stages have to be completed first before these can be issued, so keep the heat on.
Easy solution.

If kids are rowdy in my street, i will go and tell their parents.

If on the other hand the parents backanswer me, then they will answer to me, i know it sounds like i'm being a bully, but i know the police affectivly do next to nothing, so going to the parents house is the next best thing, i've done this on a number of occasions, and apart from the odd idiot who has tried to mug me off but failed miserably, they come around to my thinking.

Ps, its not all that bad, as some of the kids i now let wash my car {paying them of course} and i get the occasional hello's and good morning of some of the mums & dads, so i feel i'm doing my little bit for society by bringing the neighbourhood togeather
Kids are an absolute disgrace nowadays, you only have to look at their parents to know where its coming from. Simliar story here, I live on private rented property and these kids who dont live here came round the other day on their bikes and started wheeling in our communal garden so I rang the police, but they bailed out. I never even saw a policeman round here, and what are they going to do? They couldnt catch a cold. Its sad that I live in a counry where I dont feel protected by the law. ..and Im only 25!!!
