Hi can anyone tell me exactly how epilators work, do they hurt, do they leave you completely smooth, would you recommend one? Thanks.

I have an epilator which i got bought as a present years ago. I have attempted to use it a few times but it is agony!! Its hard to explain how they work but it is quite simple, its a metal coil which spins and catches and pulls out the hairs. I think waxing is much better and much less painfull.

yep i would recommend one. they are a series of sort of disc things that move together to have tweezer type action, so you're pulling hair out at the root. I would recommend you try it on regrowth after waxing because I expect to go straight at it with a full er, crop of hair would hurt like hell. you can but some starter ones with an ice pack attached to numb the pain. I've been using one for ages now and dont find it particulalry painful and would never go back to shaving. Make sure you exfoliate lots and moisturise though to prevent ingrowing hairs.
can you report my first one ja-didnt think it would send twice!
i have one, and confirm that it is quite painful at first. BUT, i have been using one for a few years now, and my hair hardly grows back now and it does not hurt at all, its more of a vibration feeling now. the regrowth becomes weak and fine. even in the summer, I only really need do my legs once a week. they do not leave you totally smooth, but they do not leave your legs in any worse state than shaving does overnight. waxing would be ultimately rather expensive to upkeep. i would not be without mine.

Thanks for the replies, don't think i'm brave enough to get 1 tho.
I have one and it was so painful! My advice would be to stick to waxing!
I've use an Epilady for 17yrs and yes it hurts but for convenience it is brill. Changed recently to Braun and that's even better, wouldn't go back to waxing or shaving ever. I do not use it on intimate areas.
