I dont mean to depress anyone or bring back any horrible memories...

BUT a man has just been knocked down and probably killed outside my office...my collegue was walking past but didnt see what happened - just saw his show and people around him screaming....it apparently looks as though he wont make it.

Things like this scare the hell out of me and just basically send me into shock.

Has anyone witnessed anything quite like this?

I hope you are ok nat x x x x x

When ever I see things like this it reminds me that life is too short, and to make the most of things.

BTW

I was nearly killed once.
i'm like you nat, things like that really freak me out too. there was a big car smash outside our old house and we were called out to help. noone died luckily but there was a woman who had her leg smashed and it was stuck and she couldn't get out!! there were a couple of cars involved, it was really scary xXx
i went to college the other day and there was a man standing in the middle of the carpark about a metre from my car! slitting his own throat with a piece of glass!! i no how u feel it totally freaked me out!!! but things happen all the time thats the way life is!!

i hope you ok babe, xxxxxxxx
and dont worry to much xx
Nat thats awful get yourself a nice cup of sugary tea or hot chocolate or something and just take it easy. Its very upsetting seeing something like that. Like Admarlow says life is so short.

I hope you are ok *big hug* xxx
It is disturbing because it's something outside the normal parameters of life. And you realise it could be you.

I saw a really spectactular accident, in a motorway contraflow, right next to me. A van was cut in half. But fortunately, everyone was OK. Yes, I did keep remembering it, for weeks afterwards, even though no one was seriously hurt.

It will wear off.

Just be grateful to who/whatever that it wasn't you.
we all deal with shock in different ways, as a train driver i,ve seen a number of bodies {in many bits} but it dosen't seem to affect me, saying that, i don't know how i would cope if children were run down/killed etc, we all have a limit when it comes to shock

Hopefully the fella will pull through

Thanks guys and girls...by the way i meant shoe* not show....

And also just got told it was an older woman that was knocked down my a huge lorry.....

scary stuff.

It makes me worry about my mum and nan.

But as youve mentioned it also makes you realise life is too short.

This is why me and my boyfriend can never leave one another during an arugument in case something terrible happens.
Christ, I hope he's ok!

Fortunately I've never witnessed anything as severe as that but I have to say that it also scares the hell out of me too... even if you are really careful, someone else on the road might not be. Whenever I hear of things like this, I always think that that particular person didn't know it was going to be their last day alive, they probably had plans for tonight or in the future, on his way somewhere when it happened. I know its a sad subject, I always try to make up to people any silly petty arguments, not to bear grudges and always show as much affection to the people around me that i care about as you never know when its going to happen.

Anyway, thanks for reminding me how precious life is. XXX
i think we should all call our loved ones and tell them how much we love and care for them xxxxx

no problems jeanette - its just sad that it takes something as severe as an accident for us to realise...
I have seen a couple of dead bodies, one slumped in a phone box and one person dead after coming off a motorbike. But one time (at bandcamp) I was driving through a little village near me with a mate at about 2am and as I came around a corner a body flew out of nowhere onto the pavement as if it had been flung through the air. I turned round at the next opportunity I got with my mate screaming I dont want to see a dead body, dont go back but I did and when we passed there was a blokes body just laying across the pavement. I parked up round the next corner and rang police, I said someone was laying there, police said is he breathing and I said I was not getting out to check, we were 2 young girls and it was middle of morning he could be anyone. Police told me to go back and try and check. So I drove back and we parked up next to the body and wound window down, we were going to poke him with something like they do in friends with big naked guy when he just suddenly got up and staggered over to the car. He had a big cut down his head but from what I can work out as we came round the corner he was walking into a lamppost and knocked himself out. Eventually ambulance came and took him away. I have seen him since but he cant remember how he left the pub and managed to wake up in hospital :-).
My god Sam, that's a horrible thing to see. Someone got run over near my work by a massive royal mail lorry a couple of weeks back and I don't think they survived.
I agree with Admarlow, life is way too short. You've got to make the most of it and enjoy every minute!!
But I can understand how it sends you into shock. Im always getting into scrapes and have rang 999 so many times in my life I think they know my voice by now.
When I was about 10yrs old my dad and I were driving when we came across this motorbike with 2 guys on it that had gone under the back of a lorry at a major junction where we lived. My dad got out to help the one guy who was still alive but the other bloke who was wearing a bright blue shirt was dead and lying in a massive pool of blood. I can still picture the scene today in absolute detail it made such an impression on me.
As the saying goes "when it's your time to go.............."
Of course it happens all the time but it alters our perspective on life when we witness it first hand.

Last week on my way to work I stumbled across a scene at a zebra crossing where a woman was laying trapped underneath a car (on the crossing) there were several cars thrown up on the kerbs etc and I was amazed at just how morbidly fascinated people were that they could just stand and stare, or rubber-knecked just to see how gruesome it was. There was a lot of blood and glass. Other people, probably the ones involved, the driver etc were screaming and shouting and crying. The ambulance pulled up a few minutes later with the fire appliances, but it does make you reflect on the fragility of life.

Yeha im one of those people that would stare.

I dont know what that says for me...

I could also watch programmes like "Trauma" on the BBC all night. I know that some people - like my brother hate watching things like that.
I did a first aid course years ago and would help if anyone needed it. But to see someone on the other side of the road (on motorways) who has had an accident and there are police ect. on the scene makes me feel very tearful and stays on my mind for the rest of the day, just hopeing they where ok. also I alwas phone my daughters or husband to make sure they are ok. Do hope this lady pulls through. Brenda
As there are over 3,000 people killed each year in the UK you all have a good chance of seeing one of them die, if you don't want to see one improve your driving skills.
sorry to hear that and I hope you are ok

a week ago when driving to work there was loads of traffic on the M25 heading towards Dartford River Crossing. I was already in fast lane and as I drove along slowly I saw a police car on the bridge - I thought that strange. then I glanced quickly over to the left and could not see any vehicles but a red blanket which was covering up a dead body!

I felt sick for a couple of days. it was in the newspaper that the victim was male and had left a note in his car which he had parked in a nearby common.

Luckily I did not witness him jump.

ive also been in an accident in Ireland where a young boy didnt stop down some country lane and walloped into the side of our car, hit his head on the windscreen, fleww over the back and landed on his back. he escaped with a broken collar bone and loads of bruising. still remember every detail and if my dad wasnt a slow driver (he was only doing 30) the kid would have most definately died.

hope you are feelng a bit better though - i know how hard it is to detattach yourself from things like this!!
