What's the scientific reason as to why my skin goes wrinkly if I spend a while in the bath? Also, is it possible to spend too long in the bath - as in damaging to your health?

The skin on your fingers and toes is attached in quite wide gaps to the underlying tissue. When the skin gets waterlogged the skins sags in the areas in between. This was how my doctor explained it to me, anyway.
Thats right. the only skin on your body that isn't waterproof is on the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet

Thanks!
I asked this to a friend of mine who gave me a very technical answer about short and long chained polymers in soaps and bath products etc. These draw the moisture away leaving your skin wrinkly. Having read the previous answers I'm not sure he was right now but it sounded good.
