Present for my secretary

She is a brilliant secretary - nothing is too much trouble, plus she reminds me of certain *ahem* important dates in advance and suggests pressies. I really want to thank her but have no idea just what would be suitable. She's got 3 kids, a hubby and an allotment, and so doesn't really have time to spend on herself. I thought a weekend away (4 star hotel for her and hubby), room and meals paid for in a nice city (somewhere like Bath) would be a good pressie - what do you guys think ?

Why not pay for her to have a pampering weekend. Then SHE`LL be the one being looked after.

What a lovely generous thought. I think that would be a ********** if she could get somebody to take care of the children for her. Are they very young and would childminding be a problem for her.?

Probably you don't own your own company and have it within your power to dictate her holiday arrangements, otherwise an extra week's paid holiday would perhaps be a special luxury for her, if you could manage without her for that length of time.

For a less expensive present, perhaps for another occasion as she sounds a very practical person who is obviously keen on allotments and growing her own vegetables, perhaps, a year's subscription to the magazine Kitchen Garden, might be up her street. Or something useful related to her hobby such as a fruit and vegetable drying dehydrator (available via the internet) so she can preserve all the fruit and vegetables she grows.

My thoughts are that if you actually told her how much you really appreciate her, she would be so happy. We don't often tell people that we really care about them and that we would be lost without them. A "posh prezzie" sounds nice, but sincere words mean more.

Hi guys, thanks for your responses. Her youngest kid is 17, so she's not tied by little ones ! Unfortunately there is no way I can give her an extra week's leave - totally beyond my remit. However, magazine subs, lots of thanks and a weekend away are possible :)

Buy her vouchers, then she can spend it on what she likes. At least she can then buy something she really wants/needs.

jugglering, you sound a fantastic boss, mine could use a few tips... As a secretary myself I would be more than happy with a huge bunch of flowers and some M&S vouchers. The flowers would sit on my desk to show everyone in the office how much you appreciate me and the vouchers would be just for me. Whatever you do, she is sure to appreciate it.
