I've had an outbreak of spots!! I'm using my younger sister's spot lotion to deal with it, and it's working, but I've used so much that she will notice and beat me round the head! What is a much cheaper way to deal with spots. Do lemons work?

I have suffered with spots since I was 13, on my clearest day I still have 2 or 3 blotches on my face, I don't know if you're in the same position but take from me, if you've found something that works, don't quibble about the price. I have tried all those so called old wives tales like using toothpaste and they didn't work. If you only have occasional breakouts and you have something that clears them up, quickly and effectively, the money will be worth it. It may also be worthwhile seeing if your breakouts are triggered by particular foods or situations, I had the worst breakouts of my life during my last year at Uni, it necessitated a trip to doctors to help clear it up.
Go to your doctor for anti biotics, or if you're a girl, try the pill Diannette. As it is a contraceptive, it will be prescribed free of cost. Other than that, dab them with perfume, aftershave or toothpaste before you go to bed at night and clean it off in the morning. This will dry them out

perfume on spots? You must be having a laugh! That would probably make them worse!! I might try the toothpaste though.
No, the alcohol in the perfume dries it out. Don't try it if you don't want to, but it does work, and you did ask for alternatives

Well if that's so, then wouldn't gin be better? It wouldnt smell as much for a start, and the alcohol content must be bigger?
I agree with 5029, perfume does work! If you are a chick, then always wash your make up off before you go to bed and exfoliate every week with a good face scrub. I was on dianette and it worked a treat so I'd defo recommend that too. Pure Tee Tree oil helps too - never heard of the lemon thing!
There is a higher alcohol content in perfume than in drinking alcohol eg gin, which is why it's dangerous to drink perfume

that's what my sister uses tea tree oil! Is perfume more effective than the tea tree oil?
