I was merely posing the question as even I was amazed

Forgot to add that the local towns still have many of the street decorations up
yep, been sent my M.S catalogue and done my list already... and the cards come signed lol.....
its only august
where I used to work they start putting their display up in may, takes them 3 months, and its been open for two weeks since the start of Aug. There are a group from america that come every year to see it, its amazing, but by the time christmas come its all shabby and picked over.
i just been shopping for xmas theme stuff for the xmas launch party, next week!
We need a section for xmas NOW,where all the 'humbugs' can stay out of!!LONG LIVE SANTA!COME ON XMAS!!
long live summer
Summer?Whats that?
the season before autumn then we have xmas !
lots of people can't afford to pay for everything in the last weeks up to christmas and so shopping earlier helps ease the burden. Also, I make lots of my gifts, I couldn't wait until November to start dress making etc could I, also things like jams and chutneys need to be made now.

It doesn't bother me having christmas things early. Some countries have christmas shops open all year round. You are not forced to buy anything if you don't want to.

As I say, I love to get organised early, especially as I have 5 children and 4 siblings all with children also. Also nearer christmas I like to do all the fun stuff like go to all the stuff, have parties, make stuff with the kids etc etc and so not having to worry and cards and gifts gives me a freedom to not have to shop at the most manic time of the year. It also helps enormously with budgeting as I don't emergency buy.

I love christmas its my fav time of year I think we should have a special christmas section too. come september, christmas should be on our agendas!!!!!!!!!!!

ho ho ho.
in the shop i work in (well known high street card shop, not naming names!) we've had christmas goods (card, wrapping paper, etc) in the sale for a good couple of weeks now. and last week i sold two 2007 calendars, i was shocked when they brought them to the till, i thought they were this years!
Lakeland Limited have a whole section dedicated to Christmas, and have had it in store since July. I am getting old, Lakeland Limited - dear god :-(
Christmas has come early to Knightsbridge also, CT...everywhere is lit up!

Hot cross buns are still for sale everywhere...

Back to school is already in the shops...

I love Christmas time, BUT AT CHRISTMAS !!!
i went to edinburgh recently in about june/july time, and theres a shop thats called i think the nutcracker shop and its comepletly decked out in christmas stuff and thats all it sells! it was quite weird to see it in the middle of summer!
One of my nieces has already done all her Christmas shopping.Presents that is.She is so organised she puts me to shame.I promise myself every year that I will be prepared ,but never am and I am that dreadful person you see haring round the shops at the last minute !
I like Christmas but think it has become far too commercialised and we seem to have lost the spirit of it somehow.
Our local QD shop is already putting Christmas stuff on display and we still have holidaymakers in the town !
I have to admit though that I am busy knitting some bedsocks for my darling neighbour who is more or less bedridden with osteoporosis in her feet....poor old lass.
Plus knitting the usual hippy dippy scarves and hats that my lovely organised hippy niece adores !
Hope your wife is feeling a bit better by the way CT .
TAMPA BAY area last week, the dollar store,(last of the big spenders on kids party bags.), over a hundred degrees outside, the store supervisor was erecting a tree for the celebrations on the 25th of December, ( cannot bring myself to type the other word this early) . I liketo be a bit organised and have bought in the Jan. sales - to buy someone, something really special, in my alloted budget - still don't want to have it in my face from Aug to the day.
