Diphtheria Vaccination

Diptheria vac now only given with tetinus and typhoid - which I don't need for another two years. When going to Thailand two years ago nurse discovered I did not need to have diphtheria vac as going for under 4 weeks. Now going to India and want to know if this applied there too as is now a different nurse who reluctant to look into this for me. Anyone know the answer or a reputable organisation I can tel. Thanks.
