Hello ABers,

Just wanting some tips etc really...ive got a job at the mo which involves unsocial hours so hard to take up eve and weekend activities. I am hoping to get a daytime job which allows eves and weekends for lesuire time!

I would like to take up a team sport or become a member of a local group so I can make more friends locally. I have thought of a few groups etc but would appreicate some more ideas.

Also can anyone give me an encouraging story if they have taken up something and met a good friend?

thanks

rather than take up a sport that may mean commitment when u are so busy, why not join a local gym or health club, which would give u flexibility but also access to a healthier lifestyle and potential friends.
Hi steve208 - judging by your name i'm guessing your a guy, but i'm still gonna make this suggestion. Take up a dancing class!! I go to Salsa dancing weekly and it's the most fantastic way to meet new people (male and female), have a really great laugh and keep fit (believe me, its hard work when you really get going!!!). I know most men poo-poo the idea of dancing, but it's a really fun thing to do!! 9 times out of 10, there will always be someone who is a worse dancer than you so you won't feel embarrassed!! And the fact that you have to dance with different people and keep changing partners means that you can talk to different people all the time! It's fab!
