Hi, I fell up the stairs on Friday evening, my big toe swelled up and hurt like mad, i went to A&E, and an xray showed it was fractured. The doctor said it would take two weeks to heal! the thing is i'm going to Alton Towers on Monday and want it to be ok for then! is there anything i can do to speed up the process or even if not healed be ok enough to walk around all day on! has anyone had any similar fractures and how long was it til you could walk without pain or limping? thanks in advance! x

My auntie did the same thing but with the second toe (next to the big one). They couldn't strap it up or anything but she was off her feet (and work) for well over a week. She couldn't even get a shoe on her foot for that time so definately couldnt' go walking about.

If you think you can manage limping around then go, but to be honest, the more you keep moving it and putting weight on it, the longer it will take to heal up!!

Oh dear, I think it is very unlikely that yur fractured toe will feel much better by Monday. I have broken two toes at different times and have hobbled around for quite a while.

They may have done this at the hospital. but if you bandage your broken toe to the one next to it the good toe will act as a splint and will help you to keep the toe more comfortable.

Perhaps you will have to hire a wheelchair or a mobility scooter for the day!!!! Hope you soon feel better.

Send Uri Geller a picture of your toe, then he will.."focus on zat toe..and make ze pain go away"...also if you have any broken watches, send them as well ;o)

haha Elvis! Not quite the "miracle cure" i had in mind!!! ;o)
Look on the bright side..You probably wont be doing that much walking, you`ll be standing in queues for anything between 45mins-1 hour for each ride, therefore you can take the weight off ya bad foot..enjoy the day out ;o)
Back luck. I'm afraid you may have to think about giving Alton Towers a miss next week. Try and keep the weight off it as much as possible. When you recall all the fuss about Wayne Rooney's foot you'll know some of these injuries don't heal as quickly as you would like but longer term, it's not worth risking it.
