i have been perscribed anti-epilepsy tablets for my headache does any body know why this could be?

they are called tegretol
These are also prescribed for neuralgia, which might be why you've been given them. If you are worried about taking them, give your G.P a quick ring tomorrow, so he/she can put your mind at rest.x

The other name for that is carbemazepine and it can be used as a painkiller.
