My local gym is a 5 minute walk from where i live, I was just wondering what the going rates are fro gym memberships and steam room / tanning extras etc? I used to go there years ago but its probably changed beyond all recognition by now.

Also, when are the best times to go? as i get home about 6ish but I dont want it to be busy and all the machines used up by beefcake meatheads

i have a question - if the gym is a five minute walk away, why dont you walk for 5 minutes and go in and ask their prices? I would imagine that gym memberships vary depending on where you are in the country, and what services they offer .... i would also imagine that different gyms are busy at different times, and it might be worthwhile asking at the gym when are their busy periods. I also think as you work, surely you are restricted to evenings/early mornings? If so, its a bit pointless you getting replies that say the best time to go is 10 am!
Oh, and while everyone is here answering this - can somebody tell me how much a bag of chips is in my local chippy. Many thanks

My gym membership costs 649 p.a. full, 539 (9 - 5 weekdays &weekends, Over 50's 396, 8.30 - 4pm weekdays, & 297 weekends only.
Yoga classes, acqua classes, swimming pool, steam room & sauna included. Extra payment for sun tanning & Pilates classes. All prices subject to a 12 month agreement.

However, they all always doing various promotions, such as 2 extra months free, or fee reductions if you introduce a friend. Busiest times are after 5.30 p.m. when everybody does their session after work & early morning pre-work sessions.

I have an even better idea than Kazza.

Why don't you find a gym that is an hour's walk away? That way by the time you reach the gym you'll be fairly exhausted and turn around and walk straight home, thus doing your quota of exercise AND saving money.

GENIUS I TELL THEE!

lololol Champagne!!
I am probably old enough to be your mother so will give you some mothers advice...save your money ...There was a programme on TV recently that said that a huge percentage of people who take up gym membership hardly ever bother to go.
Much cheaper to go for a brisk walk in the fresh air ,swim at your local pool and get a bicycle.

Horrible sweaty gyms. Exercising with loads of other people in an indoor environment. Everybody using ipods or walkmans and looking quite fed up, no conversation, and so, so boring. And you have to pay for it!

Do as Shaney advises go for brisk walks, enjoy a swim, take up an active sport and enjoy yourself - and guess what you might just meet the girl of your dreams!!!!
