my sister in law is pregnant, but last night she said that she had started to bleed and was in a lot of pain. She has had an miscarriage once before and she told me it felt the same as she did last night, but she never went to the doctor the first time as she waas only a few weeks gone so my question is could this be another miscarriage, (it is only tiny speks of blood that she is passing through)

hi there,

i am not a doctor by any means , but i can relate to the miscarriage i had , in the begining i had tiny specks of blood to and i was very concerned so i went to my doctor and they advised me that even though you are pregnant you may still bleed that is not much of a concern.

i was advised that if i had servere cramping , that was a major concern, unfortunately i started to cramp the next day and a miscarriage was rapidly approaching .

i think you should get your sister in law to the doctor asap servere pain is not right at all.

goodluck hope all goes well .

thanks jadeamy just needed a bit of advice.x
I had a miscarriage in November last year, and I didn't really want to go to the doctor's. However, a nurse friend of mine persuaded me to go, as apparently you need to be checked over to make sure there's nothing left behind that may need to be evactuated.

I've also heard that it's quite common for women to have some spotting when they become pregnant. But jadeamy is right, it's the cramping to look out for. I hope your sister-in-law is well! x
you are most welcome ... and i forgot to mention it would more than likely be for the best to go to the doctors or hospital just in case she has had a miscarriage and and everthing didnt come out properly ( i'm sorry didnt sound very nice ) because that can actually cause fertilty problems and make it harder to fall pregnant again in the future or even worse have another miscarriage , i am speaking from my own experience here , goodluck

She should go to doc. Hopefully its just spotting, but worst case scenario she is going to miscarry. I had a miscarriage and didnt get checked, ended up quite unwell as the pregancy wasnt fully expelled. Fingers crossed she will be ok. How far on is she this time, if you dont mind me asking?

I had a miscarriage 15 years ago and spotting is by no means always a sign of misscarriage but she definately needs to get checked. How far gone is she, you didn't say? I bled for a week before i actually miscarried, then i was in agony and spent the night in hospital and had a D+C (scrape) this clears any remaining debris that can cause an infection so it is important.I wish her all the very best sam and hope she comes through it. let us know. btw, i found the misscarriage association a fantastic help in aiding me to get over it.Can't praise them enough.
