I also posted this in food and drink.I have come to a standstill on my weight loss, and am now very disheartened.I would like to do a crash diet for a few days just to give my weigh loss a boost so what would be the safest way to do this.I truly only intend to do this for a few days and will then carry on eating healthily.Am grateful for any advice.x

No need for a crash diet. Increase the amount of cardio vascular exercise you do. not only will you lose weight you will also look and feel much healthier. There are no "quick and easy" ways to lose weight I'm afraid.

Even if it is just for a boost as you say, as soon as you stop you will put the weight back on quicker than you would normally then you will be even more disheartened.

what is the best way to do that then Dan?? This is not a cop out buit as I live in such a remote area Gyms, etc are out of the question. What do you suggest?

A dailly brisk walk of about 3 miles (1hr) should soon the scales dipping :-)

I once tried the following diet for two days and lost three pounds but wouldn't recommend it for longer than that:

Take 3 times daily:

Two tablespoons of cottage cheese
Large handful of grapes
Large slice of melon
Plus your required daily allowance of water.

Wendy, have you ever tried this cabbage soup diet? I read recently that its not so much a fad as was first thought. What do you think?
Plenty of water during the day,the best and most productive diet is to eat little but often, this re-educates your mind to accept smaller portions.the sub concious mind needs to be re-trained,for example if you were to eat what you normally eat in the way of a meal but were to do it blindfold, your intake becomes less.this is a tried and tested method of re-educating your food intake.things you eat that you associate with flavour and like to eat become less distinquishable to the memory and you feel fuller more quickly.believe me this is not a joke it truly works.good luck
If this is who I thinks it is-is it? Have you considered amputation?

gedtagius-I havent a clue what you are on about!

I have not been around for months. Sorry pardon - you sounded like someone I knew.

I seem to have been on a diet for most of my lfe. I now roughly keep to the'Slimming World' diet.

3 day crash diet - Hmmmmm - not recommended these days - but if you must - Lots of water, fruit, boiled eggs & a nappy just in case!

Apologies again.

You don't need a gym.

You can cycle, walk, jog, climb stairs...
Find a friend to come with you three or four times a week, that helps in the beginning.

I think atkins is fab for a quick fix, but never in the long term. I have a gorgeous cocktail dress in a size 10, but I never maintain a 10, always a 12 which I am more than happy with. But I have used atkins a few times to drop say half a stone to make the dress more comfortable.
