It was a 70's 5/10 minute slot before the news in the evening - an animation of an egg shaped man who sat in a tree. no body i know seems to recall this and I am wondering if I made it up!

It's ok ~ you didn't make it up as I do remember it..albeit vaguely!

I used to love those shows before the news..The Wombles, Magic Roundabout, Ivor The Engine etc. Mind you, we didn't have the endless stream of kids programmes in those days ~ it was all about quality rather than quantity!

Do you mean Ludwig? He was egg shaped sat in a tree and musical instruments popped out of him from time to time.

There was another animation around the same time called Egbert Nosh which might be where "Eggbert" came from !

Some episodes were released on Video tape some years ago, on the Kult Kidz label, you may still be able to track it down.
