since mid january i have joined a gym and lost over a stone through exercise and diet but the last week or so i cant seem to stop eating chocolate, in the past i could take or leave it so cant understand why all of a sudden i am eating so much of it, at this rate i will be putting the weight i have lost back on. any ideas why i would suddenly become addicted to chocolate?

Well Done you on loosing over a stone!!! I also found back in january when I lost a stone that I craved chocolate!!! Same as you I could take it or leave it, but for some reason when I lost the weight it just tasted heavenly!

I wonder if it is to do with a deficiency from the diet, or the sugar rush? Maybe being on a diet and cutting out nice stuff (lets face it all food that tastes great isn't usually good for you) after a while you just crave it.

BTW I have put some of the weight back on and feel I can take or leave chocolate again, certainly doesn't taste as satisfying. Diet & exercise starts tomorrow!

You are lacking in iron, the body needs it and it is causing the craving, get an iron tonic or capsules from your pharmasist.
I heard about these choc patches that you sniff when you crave it,several people have said it worked so maybe i will try them!!

EB, u were good last night ;op

Me too i've lost a stone and a half, and tonight i have just sat and ate chocolates, i had a real craving for them, and i don't understand why ?

On a strict diet, your body will have started burning up all its reserves may go into "panic" mode. If you crash diet the urge to pig on sweetand fatty foods will become absolutely irresistible.

Choc in particular has feelgood chemicals as well as sugar and fats.

I suggest you keep your dieting moderate with a view to long-term weight control, and allow some treats.
