How do you deal with a clingy friend?

I met someone recently at a party. She is a friend of a friend and we got on really well and chatted all night long. Exchanged emails and numbers and arranged to meet for a drink. For the next few days after the party, she was texting me alot which was fine. Then we met for a drink and arranged to meet up a week later. She text me everyday and if I didn't reply I would get a text saying 'did you get my last text'?. I had a cold and couldn't meet her for our next night out. She is still texting me everyday and the other day she text asking if I wanted to go for a drink. I said I was out in town anyway with a friend and could come and meet her if she wanted and she replied with 'No thanks, I don't want to be the 3rd wheel'!!!!!! I was quite annoyed at this as she was acting like I had let her down but we had nothing arranged! I don't know what to do. She is a nice girl and 2yrs younger than me and we get on fine but she is abit much. How do I deal with this? I just get the impression she doesn't have many friends! I don't want to let her down or be rude coz she is a friend of a friend aswell!

there aint an easy answer u either like her or u dont!
i'll take her off your hands rubs...for a fee of course!
Did you meet her at the AB party last nite ?
In all seriousness...have you considered that she may have a crush on you.

Hiya Ruby!

Oh dear! If I was you I would try to ignore her clingyness. Carry on with your plans, still arrange to meet her for a drink now and then etc.. If she starts getting over powering, don't rise to it and certainly don't feel bad about not texting back or keeping in touch everyday. If she keeps texting all the time, and you have already text her, ignore them and if she asks why, just send one simple one saying I'm busy at the moment speak to you next week when we meet... or whatever.

She sounds a bit of a loner, who maybe only likes one to one friendships, don't give in by feeling sorry for her as she sounds like she may get very possesive.

Hopefully if you carry on this way she may see she is being a bit OTT and back off.

Hope it works out :o)

Nip it in the bud now...tell her to fook off..the longer you leave it the worse it`ll get

lol straight to the point eh Elvis ;o) Yeah if you don't agree with my advice go with his.....

LOL Wingnut...as the great Roy Walker use to say....Say whatcha see...if ya see it say it

Ruby, tell her you have no credit, always works for me...oops

You had this trouble with 'Meadow' when we 1st invaded CS. Just treat her the same, perhaps like banjo girl you're new mate just wants to share the same carpet. Hmmmm Hmmmm?

Peachy - I do like her but I don't like her clingyness

the>one - You can have her.. lol. Perv ;o)

Zeus - Lol. No I didn't maybe a cyber friend would be easier to ignore. She doesn't have a crush on me though. I think she just doesn't have many friends. She has been through alot aswell and used to get bullied at school and all sorts.

Wingnut - Hi hun. Thanks. Thats good advice and I am going to have to be strong here. :o)

Elvis - Trust you. No credit aye? Well thats the last time I fall for that one. You ring me from now on. :oP

Ged - Lmfao. I like Meadow. We get on well now. It wasn't the same problem.. Meadow hated me! Lol.

Ruby, just tell her like it is. You gotta be cruel to be kind. She needs to get a grip. :-)
