ive always used revlon skin brighteners. they come in about 4 shades and last for ages.

Superdrug do their own version which costs under 3 (cheaper still when it's on special offer). It's really good. Unfortunately I can't remember the name - something like High Definition(?) - perhaps someone else can confirm? (I'm having a really bad memory day today.)
avon do a good one i think its calle illuminating light or ssomething like that if you search through the avon catalouge im sure you will find it its only a couple of quid toox
virgin vie do a fantastic one called brightening boost
Benifit do a skin illuminator cant remeber its name but if you asked at the counter the lady would know. ive very good!

Just found out the actual product. It wasn't High Definition, but Instant Radiance (dozy me). See link for good review.

Revlon skin lights-caramel glow, peach glow, very very good, got a beauty 'oscar' costs 9.99 wear on its own or mix with foundation.
I have the Revlon skinlights too but I also have a version by No 7 at Boots which is like a pale pink shimmery cream and I much prefer this its lighter and I think its more subtle, I find the Revlon version makes my skin look too shiny.
Almay do a product about 7 called "Skin Brightener" it comes in two shades, light and medium.
