I have been in a rut for a very long time, and seem to have lost all motivation. For anything.I start things but never finish them off. Has anyone got any helpful tips to get me going again?

It sounds as if you are depressed. If you do not want to go to the doctor try St Johns Wort from Holland and Barrett or Boots. Omega 3 fatty acids are also thought to work.

There is nothing wrong with going to the doctor. If a chemical kick in the butt is all that you need take it. Why suffer when you can be motivated.

Drugs, however, will never solve any underlying reason for your apathy. It may be your work or home live that is making you miserable. But if the drugs make you feel more enthusiastic about things again you will be more able to deal with all the **** that life throws at us.

your'e not alone my dear, you have company
How about borrowing someone's dog (if you don't have one) and going for long walks ?? You would be amazed at the amount of people who will stop and chat when you have a dog, and it could bring some confidence back.

St.John's Wort is very good, and cheap in ASDA.

Do you have a garden ? If so, pick a small section of flowerbed, about 6 ft, and weed it thoroughly, on your knees in the sunshine, with a radio for company. It's amazing how it takes your mind off all other problems.

Thanks wolf. I have been on antidepressants. But stopped taking them as they made me feel so tired. But think I may need to get back on them again, as they did make me feel a lot better. x
