My Mum is 46 yrs old and has a weight problem.

She use to be 40 and a 1/2 stone. 20 yrs ago she had a stomack by-pass. And lost over 16 stones. But since I was born 14 yrs ago, she has gradually gone up to 30 stones again. She has tried many slimming clubs. Which have helped her to lose weight. She does well to start with, losing 1 or 2 stones. But then she comes up against a brick wall. And can't lose any more. This really upsets my Mum.

So why can some people lose weight and over find it so difficult, no matter how hard they try ?????

My Mum is not one of those people that sit around all day doing nothing. She's always on the go, from morning until bed time.

Can anybody HELP PLEASE ??????????

Hi kirsty m, Maybe your Mum has an eating disorder or even a glandular problem. Has she spoken to her GP about this? I thought having a gastric bypass meant the person could only eat small amounts of foods? Yo yo dieting wont help and yes it can be hard to stick to even a healthy Slimming World or WW eating plan. Please ask you mum to see her doctor:-)
I don't know if it will help Kirsty, but I am 56 and was 16 stone. I read Paul McKenna's book "I can make you thin" and listened to the CD that came with it. I started mid November and have now lost 2 stone 10 lbs. It is coming off slowly, but it does work. perhaps it might help your mum. Diets never worked for me but this did.

i am following lighterlife....it is fantastic and it encorporates a 1 hr counselling session with people in the same boat as you. you lose 3 stone in 14 weeks, it is fantastic...i have done everything too and this is the only thing that has worked for me. its not hard and it works...tell her to go on to the website www.lighterlife.co.uk and find a meeting near her. she wont regret it

Hello Kirsty,
I'm 45 and I have spent my entire adult life gaining and losing weight - at the end of last year I hit 18 stone and felt that I had tried everything and there was no hope for me. Then I read a book called the Easyweigh to Lose Weight by Allen Carr. I am now 13 and a half stone and feel fantastic. My confidence has returned and I know - for certain - that I will never gain that weight again.
I don't know what was so special about the book - but it has certainly changed my life. Perhaps it could work for your mum too. I wish her luck!
