Striking pain in the Buttock !!

Yes, we've all heard the saying "A pain in the a***e" but, my friend has been getting striking pains in one of her buttocks which causes her to wince and she recoils in pain every time. Anyone any ideas what it could be?

It could be sciatica - a pain in the buttock and leg caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve in the lower back. See your GP for diagnosis.
