I bought some cut flowers today and also have a new hyacinth plant in my front room, which smells strong. Could these be making my eyes sore?

I'm no expert but I wonder if it could be an alergic reaction to the pollen, do you ever suffer from hay feaver ?

Not up until today, it seems ! Most of the flowers in the room are tulips, hyacinths and roses. (Mothers Day is on its way in our house !!)

Hyacinth bulbs can cause allergic reactions if you touch them, so perhaps the flowers are causing the problem.

Its more than likely the hyacinths if you're ok with other flowers. Im the same with lavender, watery stingy eyes and sneezing.
