Is is just me who is sick of hearing about Valentines day? Largely because i'm a little bitter that I'm single but everyone is going on about it and it makes me feel rubbish! What can young singletons like me do on Valentines day to get away from all these loved up swoony people who rub it in my face??

Hi milly know exactly how you feel! Me and my mate are having an anti-Valentine's party at my flat, we're going to eat lots, drink lots and generally put the world to rights! All singletons invited, the more the merrier! x

I'll be there, armed with wine and chocolate!

Oh milly don't let it get to you. I've had many a valentine's day on my own & those that I have spent with someone weren't spectacular. If someone needs a special day to be coerced into being romantic they wouldn't be for me anyway. I'd much rather have someone who bought me a bunch of daffs & a bar of galaxy any old day of the week!

Buy yourself a big box of chocs, bunch of flowers, new shoes - anything that makes you happy. Have your hair done, slap on some lippy & smile - you might bump into that special person who's feeling just as you do.

Hi milly, Been married 15 years, Loved my wife from the 1st day to the present day, By no means tight, But valentines day is a total over-the-top waste of money, I don,t need one day to show my wife that i love her, They inflate the prices on cards, meals, flowers etc, Due to the overwhelming response from people { their words not mine}.

Its just another excuse to rip us off, Would rather spend the money saved on my wife { she agrees by the way}.

Anyway you ladies injoy your night.

Ps, Happy valentines to you all

Go up the pub where you'll find all the other single people trying to get away from it. You never know you might meet someone :-)

I just heard someone on the radio say they have never received a valentines card and its just occured to me that I dont think I have either. That's it, I'm sending myself a card and flowers, to work and make out i have a secret admirer!
Both my wife and myself agreed ages ago, no gifts, no cards, we've been married 27 years now, and still love each other, What are the celebrating anyway, dress for a lot of parties is gangsters and molls, with fake guns, A massacre, thats what, and I have no time for it.
Milly... i feel exactly the same and do you know whats worse??? its my birthday on feb 14th.... i will be 21 and all my friends will be loved up with their blokes so little old me is going to sit at home all alone ;o(
I agree totally with Laurence2 and have been married for 12.5 yr. I do get my wife a card but thats it - I think it's a total commercial rip off. My wife is in agreement. I'd rather not be tucked up and much prefer to cook a meal for her.
Best Valentines day I ever had I left my boyfriend (now husband) at home and went kick boxing!

Give me a ring Robinia. A bunch of daffs and a bar of Galaxy - that's my kind of girl.

Right you are Grunty.....

.....but heaven help you if you forget my birthday ;-)

i feel exactley the same as u im single n every1 keeps talking about valentines day its driving me bananas im hiding at home wit a big bar of chocolate n a film lol
Join the club Milly..
i dont like valentines day, well i do but i dont, it would be so much better if it wasnt talked aout as much and made such a big deal about. i have a boyfriend but i still really am not fussed about going out or anything, i think it should be a day that EVERYONE enjoys, not just longterm couples.

Hi Milly. Its just another excuse for retailers to get people to spend money. As soon as Christmas is over, out come the Valentines cards, gift ideas etc. Then it will be the Easter eggs. All a big commercial hype.

If you are with someone you think a lot of, then why wait for Valentines day to send a card or buy a gift. You can do it any time of the year. Whilst typing in this reply, 2 adverts have been on the tv suggesting gifts for Valentines. One of them was Betwitched dvd!

Me too hon, the bitterness starts to grate doesn't it...? I generally go out with some singleton friends and get thoroughly ******. I can assure you we're the only people in the pub that night laughing!!

Plus, think of the positives, no money spent, no dodgy Chinese with a load of other 'couples' sitting round you, no 'what do I get him, because he might have got me more' (invariably less!!) god, I'm putting myself off now!!! hurrah!!! just know you're not alone, and whilst you're sitting there on feb 14th, spare a thought for the thousands, nay, millions of sad singletons sitting there too.
